Abstract:
Together with faculty, embedded tutors work within a course to provide individual and group academic support outside of the classroom, either in-person or online. An embedded tutor’s work focuses on promoting active learning, conceptual thinking, and student engagement. Embedded tutors collaborate with faculty and learning center staff to deliver high impact, quality content. This presentation will share information about how and why faculty should consider using an embedded tutor and will share guidelines for faculty, tutors, and learning center staff. We will also share impact data along with faculty and student testimonials.
Outcomes:
1. Discover what an embedded tutoring program looks like and develop considerations for embedded tutoring
2. Name the responsibilities of faculty, learning center staff and embedded tutor within an embedded tutoring program
3. Describe potential benefits of an embedded tutoring program
